Welcome!

Hey everyone,

I realize it has been sometime since we have given any update as to what is happening with Gak Attack. I get asked quite often what is going on with the EP, whether Shot Down Sun will get back together because of it and so forth. First of all, unfortunately Shot Down Sun will not be getting back together. Gak Attack is being done for the fun and love of the music. The band was a hugely important role in all of our lives but we have all since moved on to newer things and have grown as musicians. A lot of that growth is seen with the material on Gak Attack.

Originally we had wanted this EP to be a collaboration of all members of SDS past and present. This idea has proved to be very difficult simply in terms of time and place. We are all scattered about, doing our own things with work and school and it was simply not possible to get enough time with everyone together to write solid and cohesive songs. The material so far has been written entirely by Myles and myself, but will feature parts from Max Lee and the final bass tracks will be recorded by Matt Feugill. I also realize it has been some time since we announced Gak Attack and it is still not done. This too is because of our hectic schedules. It takes me almost two hours to get to Myles' house and in order to have a successful Gak Attack session we pretty much need the whole day so it becomes a matter of matching up schedules and times that work together. That being said, the EP is very close to being finished (written that is). Once the initial writing process is complete we will set up some jam session with Eric and Max to perfect everything before we head to Mudskipper Studios to lay down the real deal. Max will also be providing the cover art, which we will reveal on this blog once it is complete.

The track listing and progress of the EP is as follows:

1. Olmech II (100% complete)
2. I'm Nauseous (Roughly 30% complete, lots of ideas floating around)
3. Midnight Society (100% complete)
4. Good Burger (100% complete)
5. Neematoad 2.0 (99% complete, still tinkering with a few things)
6. Kablam! (10% done)

So pretty much only two songs left to go! We may also be doing a pretty sweet cover of a certain old school Nickelodeon show's theme song. We aren't telling you which one, but it sure is awesome! We shall keep you as up to date as we can, and can't wait to get this EP out to everyone!
